What that means in practice

The tours listed here are sold by Viator and GetYourGuide. When you follow a link from one of these pages and go on to book, the platform pays us a share of its own commission. You pay the same fare either way; the price on the booking page is the operator's price, not a marked-up one.

What we are not

We are not a tour operator. We do not run any of these tours, employ any of these guides or hold your booking. Your contract is with the operator, through the platform.

We have no connection with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Veterans Affairs Canada, the Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs or the Sir John Monash Centre, the Lochnagar Crater Foundation, the Somme Association, the Historial de la Grande Guerre, the Musée Somme 1916, the Albert tourist office, or any of the places these tours stop at.

How tours get listed

Operators cannot pay for placement, position or a badge. A badge on a card is the platform's own, shown only where the platform awards it: the Badge of Excellence on two listings. One platform shows a "Top rated" flag in a block shared between its listings, which cannot be tied to one product, so no card carries it. Some operators sell the same day on both platforms, and each appears on its own because each is separately bookable and priced.

The featured tours at the top of the homepage are three different days: the shared small-group day from Paris with the Australian memorial and Amiens Cathedral, the private half day from the Musée Somme 1916 in Albert, and the private Australian full day with pickup at your Amiens hotel.

Prices, ratings and how current they are

Prices, star ratings and review counts belong to the operators and were taken from their own listings on 25 September 2026. They move, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. Every tour fare is quoted in US dollars because that is the currency the listings were captured in; nothing is converted at an exchange rate. Most fares are per person, and several private days need two people to book. Four are priced for the whole party: the private half days from Albert and the full day from Arras or Albert for up to three, and the historian's day from Beaucourt-sur-l'Ancre for up to four.

Site facts come from the bodies that keep them: the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for the Thiepval Memorial; Veterans Affairs Canada for Beaumont-Hamel and Vimy; the Lochnagar Crater Foundation; the Sir John Monash Centre and the Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs; the Historial de la Grande Guerre; the Musée Somme 1916; the Somme Association for the Ulster Tower; the Imperial War Museums for the battle; the Albert tourist office; and Météo-France for the climate normals. Where a detail comes from an operator's listing, such as a meeting point, a group size or a stop, it belongs to that tour.

What we deliberately do not publish

Train times and the distance from Paris. The rail operator's timetable pages could not be read when these pages were written, so we give no journey time, no station address and no Paris-Albert distance. Check the SNCF timetable for your date.
The Musée Somme 1916's annual closure dates. Its own hours page gives none; we print its daily hours only.
A date for the Battle of Le Hamel, and figures for Delville Wood, until we have read them from an official page.
Listing claims no official source supports. One listing calls its stops "WWII sites"; they are First World War sites. Listings give their own sizes for Lochnagar Crater and their own counts of the Australian missing, which differ from the official ones, so we print only the figures from the Lochnagar Crater Foundation and the Department of Veterans' Affairs. One listing promises to skip the lines, which the free memorials do not have. Vimy Ridge is never called a Somme battlefield: it is in the Pas-de-Calais, near Arras.
